Introduction

Being the totality of the child’s experiences either individually or socially achieved in an organized environment, early school education has the role of developing, growing and protecting children in order to offer them both physical and mental skills and acquisitions meant to provide them with the needed moral values for the adult life. What children learn in their first years represents more than half of what they will learn for the rest of their lives. National priorities, starting from the international ones, strongly require the establishment of a policy and an early education system within the Early Childhood Development program. It is also important that the national early education system develops in the context given by the Convention on the Rights of the Child, the Millennium Development Goals, which must have been achieved by 2015, and the manifestation of Romania as a full member of the European Union. The book will mainly deal with aspects regarding the contemporary educational issues of early schooling systems starting from the educational policies as well as the history of early school education in different countries. At the same time, it will have in view some examples of good practices regarding the teaching strategies employed by various educational systems, especially at present, when the digital natives are enrolled in early schooling.

Objective

The book aims to provide both theoretical perspectives and practical approaches for teachers interested in transforming the future. Through the approaches of theoretical background but also through the studies of practical application nature, the book can serve as bibliographic support for the Early Education program, initial training study program for the field of Education Sciences to be accredited in universities in Romania in the following academic years.

Target Audience

The book is intended to be a guide not only for early education teachers but also for students preparing to become pre-school or primary school teachers.
